Why we chose the poppy

Ever really stopped to think why the humble poppy is used by so many, including ourselves, as a symbol of remembrance? We thought you might like to read 'The Story Behind the Remembrance Poppy' from an article on the website of The Great War:

This verse is from a very famous poem written by Canadian soldier John McCrae in 1915, during World War One. We think these words are beyond beautiful.
"In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below..."
